It’s official. Twilight mastermind Stephenie Meyer is working on a new book. The only catch? It’s not another installment of the Twilight saga.
Instead, Meyer is gearing up to conquer new literary territory with the release of her first novel for adult readers this fall.
Meyer’s publisher, Little Brown and Co., made the announcement on Twitter yesterday (July 19), dropping the official cover and release date of the thriller, The Chemist.

Little Brown and Co. also linked to a teaser and novel synopsis. Billed as a “gripping page-turner,” the novel will follow an ex-agent gone rouge who has to take on one more case in hopes of clearing her name among her former peers. And of course, there’s a love story intertwined somewhere.
“Resolving to meet the threat head on, she prepares for the toughest fight of her life, but finds herself falling for a man who can only complicate her likelihood of survival. As she sees her choices being rapidly whittled down, she must apply her unique talents in ways she never dreamed of,” reads the teaser.
With over 100 million copies sold worldwide and a massive movie franchise, Meyer’s young adult series Twilight has become her greatest claim to fame thus far as an author. Will Meyer’s young fans who grew up on her supernatural love story follow her pen into adulthood? We’ll see come November.
