Everything seems to be getting the revival treatment these days, so why not bring back an original talent series, too? Well, that’s exactly what Fox is doing, and Steve Harvey has all the details.
On Wednesday (Feb. 7), Harvey announced that he is hosting the return of Showtime at the Apollo, and it’s going to be just as big as it was when it first started back in 1987.
“There’s no time like #ShowtimeAtThe Apollo! The legendary show returns March 1 on @FOXTV,” Harvey tweeted along with a promo photo for the new Fox series.

According to the network, each episode will be hosted by Harvey and will feature some of the biggest stars in comedy and music. One of the best things about this reboot is that it will feature elements of the Apollo’s Amateur Night, which is legendary. In fact, the live talent competition has been running for 82 years and given life to many stars we know today.
With the new series, you can expect dancing, singing, comedy and so much more, but remember, “don’t mess with the original!” In addition to well-known stars making an appearance — John Legend was part of the Showtime at the Apollo specials in 2017 — perhaps fans will see the rise of the next generation of stars. After all, the iconic Apollo Theater has launched careers of famous artists, so who knows who we will find this time around.
Showtime at the Apollo premieres on March 1, 2018 on Fox.
