Harry Potter alum Rupert Grint just met the new Ron Weasley and it was absolutely magical.
Grint caught a performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Wednesday (Aug. 11) and took a moment to pop backstage at the Palace Theatre in London. There, Grint came face-to-face with actor Paul Thornley, who plays the older version of Ron Weasley in the eighth Harry Potter story set 19 years later.
“Rupert Grint met Paul Thornley after the #CursedChild performance this evening at the Palace Theatre, London #KeepTheSecrets,” wrote the play’s official Instagram before sharing a photo of the pair on Instagram.
Grint also snapped a pic with the entire cast of the play, in which he’s seen standing next to actress Cherrelle Skeete, who plays Ron and Hermione’s daughter, Rose.
Grint is the latest in a string of Harry Potter alums who have made it out to see the play, including Helena Bonham Carter and Bonnie Wright, who play Bellatrix and Ginny, respectively in the films.
Emma Watson also stopped by in July and gave fans all the feels when she met up with current Hermione actress, Noma Dumezweni. We know Daniel Radcliffe has said he doesn’t have plans to catch Cursed Child any time soon, but given that both Watson and Grint have made it out to see the play, we’re definitely hoping he changes his mind. We’d love to see Radcliffe meet his adult Cursed Child counterpart just like Watson and Grint have met theirs!
