Update (Sept. 22): J.K. Rowling confirmed via Twitter on Thursday (Sept. 22) that Pottermore officially has a Patronus quiz. Take a look at her post below:

Something dark is happening on Pottermore’s Twitter account and we’ve got a pretty good theory as to what the sudden change could mean for Harry Potter fans.
The Twitter account linked to J.K. Rowling’s official Harry Potter website opted to switch things up on Tuesday (Sept. 21) when it revealed a new profile image and banner shrouded in darkness.
Of the two changes, it’s the account’s new banner that really caught our eye. Amidst the shadows you can just make out a woodsy background that could very well be the Forbidden Forest, and we can’t help but wonder if perhaps this means the website is gearing up to launch Rowling’s highly anticipated Patronus quiz.

For those of you who need a bit of a refresher, a Patronus is a magical guardian that generally takes the form of an animal the caster shares the deepest affinity with.
We’re first introduced to the concept of Patronuses in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban after Harry asks Professor Lupin to teach him how to cast a Patronus Charm in order to help him ward off Dementors. At the end of the book, Harry finds himself at the edge of the Forbidden Forest where he famously produces a corporeal Patronus so powerful, he’s able to successfully save Sirius Black after a swarm of Dementors descend upon his Godfather.
Dementors aside, the charm is also used in other ways as the series progresses. Specifically, we see the Order of the Phoenix use Patronuses to communicate amongst each other, and we also see Snape use his doe Patronus in Deathly Hallows as a means of leading Harry to the Sword of Gryffindor while he’s camping in the Forest of Dean.
Ever since the website launched, fans have been petitioning for Rowling to include a quiz which would definitively let Potter heads know what form their Patronus would take once and for all. Though the author has confirmed for quite some time that a Patronus quiz was in the works, Rowling recently ignited new excitement amongst fans when she took to Twitter just last week to say “an announcement is very close…”

Add that into the fact that Dementors just so happen to be the Beast of the Week over on Pottermore, and we’re all the more convinced that all signs are pointing to the fact that a Patronus quiz is just around the corner.
We couldn’t be more excited over the idea of Patronuses coming to Pottermore, but we’re also very interested in finding out how Rowling has pulled off the quiz. Book readers know that for the most part, every Patronus is unique to the caster, minus a few exceptions.
We’ll be interested to see how many outcomes are available when the quiz eventually launches, but until then, we’ll be eagerly awaiting for Pottermore to officially announce Rowling’s Patronus quiz along with the rest of you Potter fans!
