Fans of Outnumbered, be prepared to get excited, because the show is making its way back to our screens.

According to Hugh Dennis, star of the show, the BBC will be bringing the show back for more specials thanks to the success of last year’s Christmas episode.

He told Lorraine Kelly this morning:

I doubt there will be another series but there will be more specials because that does seem to work. The special we did last year really worked.

He continued:

I think the key to its success is that people speak [on the show] the way that people speak [in real life] – so it doesn’t feel like you are doing lines.

Last month marked ten years since the popular show began, with the final full series finishing in 2014.

The show enjoyed massive success, thanks in no small part to the three children, who brought buckets of charm and individuality to make the show feel real and authentic.

Hugh added in the interview:

The kids on the show aren’t kids now. But luckily kids tend to live at home with their parents now till they’re about 40 so it can still work.

The Brockman kids from Outnumbered are now all grown up, and people couldn’t handle it when a picture did the rounds on Twitter.

People somehow couldn’t seem to grasp the principle that people get older over time, who’d have thought it?

But far be it from making an Outnumbered return less appealing, it will surely provide new material for the writers to work on where they can stand back and let the hilarity ensue.

There’s no current date to look forward to as yet, but it seems likely that we should expect something soon with such concrete statements from Hugh.

Hallelujah!
