A Nebraska teacher is now jobless and charged after she arranged to meet a 16-year-old boy for sex.
Emily Lofing, who taught language arts at Nebraska City Middle School, had her resignation accepted after a board meeting Monday just hours after the county attorney filed the charge against her for “for debauching a minor”.
Otoe County Attorney David Partsch said, “The allegation here is that she arranged for a meeting for the purpose of sexual intercourse with the individual who is younger than 17 years-old.”
Officials believe it happened this past summer before she’d started teaching at the school. The alleged victim attended school at her previous place of employment.
The alleged victim was 16 at the time of the meeting, which is the legal of consent. Because of this, the “debauching a minor” was the toughest charge she could be hit with.
She’s scheduled to appear in court in mid-to-late March and could face up to a year in jail.
