Missouri Man is Accused of Trying to Sodomize a 2-Year-Old Girl at a Playground

A Missouri man has been arrested and faces several charges after he’s alleged to have sexually assaulted a two-year-old girl at a playground on March 10th.

24-year-old William Bates Jr. was seen by the young girl’s mother “eyeballing” her daughter as she was swinging on a swing. She says that Mr. Bates then walked up behind her daughter and took her off the swing before grabbing her by the hips and taking her diaper down.

She claims she then saw him lift his shirt, pull his pants down, and start thrusting against the little girl. She then ran and tackled Bates, knocked him to the ground, and started punching him mercilessly.

He eventually was able to get out and fled on foot. The victim’s mother then ran to a nearby homeless shelter and called the cops.

Arriving officers found and arrested him. He was found to be in possession of marijuana and “an unidentified white vial of fluid with a chemical odor,” the arrest report states.

The girl’s mother positively identified Bates as the perpetrator.

Bates told cops that he’d bummed a cigarette from someone near the park and has no memory of the incident until waking up inside a fenced-in area being arrested.

He’s been charged with first degree attempted sodomy and attempted statutory sodomy with a person less than 12 years old.

He was given a cash-only bond of $150,000.
