A former high school soccer coach in Minnesota, who’d been charged with having sex with a 13-year-old boy, may avoid jail time after making a plea deal.
33-year-old Rebecca Noonan pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in relation to a 2014 incident when she had intercourse with the boy.
Her plea came with a statement that, “I was so drunk or so under the influence of drugs or medicine that I did not know what was doing at the time of the crime.”
This is called a Norgaard plea; a defendant claims that “intoxication or amnesia” prevents them from remembering the incident they are alleged to have done.
Her plea deal even allows her to be dismissed if she meets all of the requirements of her sentence.
Thus far, she’s been ordered to undergo an evaluation before of sentencing.
Sentencing will take place in April.
The former girls soccer at Champlin Park High School was let go when school administrators chose not to renew her contract in July of 2015 after the incident.
