Mindy Kaling Bids Heartfelt Final Farewell To ‘The Mindy Project’

As of today, The Mindy Project is officially over, and no one thinks it’s more bittersweet to watch the series finale than creator Mindy Kaling, and we’re right there with her.

After six seasons of playing Dr. Mindy Lahiri, and running the entire comedy, The Mindy Project’s final episode is live now. In honor of the end of this chapter of her career, Kaling shared a sweet message with her fans, so try not to get too emotional while reading it.

“Six years ago I created a show called #TheMindyProject and got to play the lead. Not the sassy friend or nagging wife. It completely changed my life,” Kaling wrote on Twitter on Monday night.

Six years ago I created a show called #TheMindyProject and got to play the lead. Not the sassy friend or nagging wife. It completely changed my life. 117 episodes later, it’s ending, on my own terms. That’s so rare, and I just want to say how grateful I am. Love forever, MK ❤

She continued her heartfelt goodbye noting that being the lead and running her female-empowered series ending on an even higher note than it began.

“117 episodes later, it’s ending, on my own terms. That’s so rare, and I just want to say how grateful I am. Love forever, MK ❤,” she concluded. Preach, Mindy, preach!

It’s been a long journey for both Kaling — who had to deal with a cancelation on Fox and then a pick up by Hulu — and her character, who has been single, opened her own practice, almost got married, had a child, and so much more. The good news is that Kaling is already working on a few new projects, so your TV screens won’t be without her for too long.

The Mindy Project’s series finale is live on Hulu now.
