Matt LeBlanc’s ‘Episodes’ Ends After 5 Seasons

Episodes has officially signed off!

After five seasons on Showtime, the Matt LeBlanc comedy came to a close on Sunday (Oct. 8). The good news is that the series finale wrapped up the most important storylines and gave a number of characters closure. LeBlanc’s character Matt, an exaggerated version of himself, finally got the script he wanted from the British writing duo of Sean (played by Stephen Mangan) and Beverly (Tamsin Greig), while the trio reconciled once and for all.

“I thought it was a really nice twist at the end, what they’re writing and how my character ends up in it, too,” LeBlanc told Variety about the series finale. “He goes with his hat in his hand, so to speak, and he really has an ulterior motive, and they call him on it, and he doesn’t care. He’s shameless. What I like most about the end is that Sean, Beverly, and Matt are working together.”

Although we won’t be seeing LeBlanc back in any more episodes of Episodes, he went out on top, which was always the goal. “I’ve just been so, so lucky to be a part of it,” LeBlanc said ahead of the series end, and fans are glad he was a part of it too.

Saying goodbye to LeBlanc and his hilarious character Matt is bittersweet for the fans, who have been watching the actor on TV for a long time. We saw him on Friends for 10 seasons, Joey for two seasons, followed by Episodes beginning in 2011. The good news is that the Friends alum already has another series that he’s on, so we don’t have to bid him farewell forever.

The CBS comedy Man With a Plan, which stars LeBlanc as Adam Burns (and started in 2016), has been picked up for a second season, and will return in 2018!
