Matt LeBlanc Says A ‘Friends’ Revival Has Been Discussed And…

It’s the age-old question of whether or not there will ever be a Friends revival. Now, Matt LeBlanc has weighed in on the likelihood of the sitcom ever making a comeback — and his answer is very honest.

While sitting down with Australia’s TV Week earlier this week, LeBlanc, who played Joey Tribbiani for 10 seasons, revealed once and for all where he stands on a reboot of the beloved comedy. Get ready Friends fans, because you’re not going to like what you’re about to read.

“I don’t think that will happen. I have spoken to everyone involved in the decision to come back and do Friends and I have heard all the rumors myself that you have all heard,” LeBlanc told TV Week, and our hearts are breaking.

Though fans may be ready for a Friends revival, the Man With a Plan actor is okay with leaving that chapter of his career in the past.

“I think Friends was about a finite period in your life, when school ends and before you sort of settle down and start having a family. And that is when your friends are really a family and that is what that show was about, roughly about that ten year block in time in people’s lives,” LeBlanc explained.

Like a few of his former cast mates Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox, LeBlanc just doesn’t think a Friends reboot makes sense. The characters would be too old, and times have changed too much since they wrapped in 2004, and the gang might be right.

“To go back and revisit those characters now, A) I don’t know what the story would be, and B) they have all moved on from that period on their lives and it’s just not the same,” he said.

As Joey always said, “forget about it” and sadly that’s what Friends fans might have to do about the idea of a possible revival. Or you could just hold out hope that the stars change their mind and a reunion happens somewhere down the line, which is what we’re going to do!
