Kerry Washington will forever be Olivia Pope in the eyes of her fans, but her friends also think of her as the fierce TV character, and it’s too funny.
Washington is Allure’s November cover girl, and during her interview with the magazine she opened up about the fact that even her friends expect her to “handle it” in real life, and our Scandal loving hearts can’t take the awesomeness.
“It happens All. The. Time,” Washington told Allure about not being able to shake her Scandal character. “I mean, part of it is because they know I can connect them to Judy Smith, [the crisis manager] who the role is based on. But people call me to say, ‘I have this problem. Can I talk to you about it?’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t even want to know! Just skip over me!’ But I know secrets.”
Despite being the go-to girl for her friends’ secrets, Washington revealed that when she’s at home she likes to shed her Olivia Pope persona through her looks. Instead of keeping her hair perfectly straight, she lets it down with all its imperfections.
“I like to wear my natural texture, especially now because I have children and I want them to know that their hair is perfect as it is,” she explained. “They don’t have to change it or straighten it. They can, but they don’t have to.”
We know Washington is her own fierce woman, but telling her kids to be themselves is something we definitely think Olivia Pope would do!
