Katy Perry Asks Fans To ‘Brace For Impact’ With 2017 VMA Announcement

Heads up, Katy Kats! Katy Perry is officially heading to television to host the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards!

Perry took to Twitter to let fans far and wide in on the great news on Thursday (July 27).

“Introducing your MOONWOMAN,” tweeted Perry. “Brace for impact! August 27th on @MTV @VMAs”

The singer paired the short message with an epic video that starts off with a shot of the moon amidst a pink and purple galaxy. From there, we catch a glimpse of an astronaut floating amongst the stars in a stylish holographic space suit.

As the astronaut twirls in the galaxy, we catch a glimpse of a belt that reads “moon woman,” before the space explorer inches closer and closer to the moon, with the help of some trusty thrusters located in the shoes of the suit.

Just before the video ends, we’re let in on the fact that it’s Katy Perry herself that’s wearing the suit. The short clip ends with a close up of the singer’s face within the helmet.

Given Perry’s enthusiastic stage presence, we’re sure she’ll make for a great host for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

On top of serving as this year’s MC, the “Chained To The Rhythm” pop star is also up for a few nominations. The singer received nods in four categories this year, including Best Pop, where she’ll be up against Shawn Mendes, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, Fifth Harmony, and Miley Cyrus.

We can’t wait to see what surprises Katy Perry has in store for us when she hits the stage to host the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards!

The 2017 MTV VMAs are set to air Sunday, August 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
