Downton Abbey is coming to the States — but sadly not for a reunion movie (at least not yet).
Last week Downton Abbey’s social media pages teased a big announcement was on the way, and now it’s finally here. Although we were hoping for news about the rumored movie reunion, which numerous stars have already revealed they were ready to do, the real announcement is about an exhibition and it sounds pretty spectacular.
On Tuesday (Oct. 10), the cast revealed that although they are not reuniting just yet, fans can come and see what it was like to be a part of the Crawley family and their staff, while touring a brand-new Downton Abbey: The Exhibition in New York City next month.
“The Crawleys are coming to the States and you are invited as their special guest! First stop New York City!” Downton Abbey’s official Twitter page announced along with a video featuring some of your favorite characters talking about their costumes, the rooms they worked in, and more. Trust us, this video will give you all the feels and take you back to Downton Abbey instantly.
“Everything’s the same dimensions, it’s all the same, it’s making me all nostalgic,” Sophie McShera, who played kitchen maid Daisy, says in the video as you actually see where she worked.
The exhibition will feature the actual costumes that the characters wore, set pieces and staging as if you were really in the estate, upstairs with the Crawleys or downstairs with the amazing staff.
“One of the real joys of the job is the costumes and it’s really special to see this in this setting,” Laura Carmichael, who played Lady Edith, says giving us even more reason to share in this limited-time event.
Downton Abbey: The Exhibition will open on November 18, 2017 in New York City and run until the end of January. Tickets start at $15 and you can get them here.
