So now, not only do we get a third John Wick movie, currently set for release on May 17, 2019, we also get to learn tons more about the clandestine world that John Wick inhabits.
The show, reportedly to be called The Continental, will be set in the John Wick universe, of course, with writer/producer Chris Collins (Sons of Anarchy, The Wire, The Man in the High Castle) writing the series and serving as the showrunner, reports Deadline.
According to Starz CEO Chris Albrecht, “the show and the movies exist side by side.” He earlier called The Continental “truly unlike anything else on TV,” adding that it “promises to include the thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shootouts between professional assassins and their targets that fans have come to expect in the John Wick movie franchise as well as introducing some new, darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world.”
Deadline also reports that Starz’s head of programming Carmi Zlotnik said during Starz’s Television Critics Association session that as for Keanu Reeves showing up on the show as John Wick, we “can expect to see him at some point of the series.”
