Chris Colfer Says Acting Is Not His Top Priority Right Now

A lot has changed for actor Chris Colfer since his days as Kurt Hummel on Glee. Instead of belting out show tunes on TV, Colfer is much more into playing the role of author these days.

The 26-year-old author of The Land of Stories: An Author’s Odyssey stopped but AOL Build to talk about his new book and reminisce about his days on the small screen.

“It used to be all about Glee. Now it’s all kids, running up to me and telling me how much they love the books and what they want to happen,” Colfer explained to the crowd, as reported by Just Jared. “I was really worried that the crowds would dissipate when the show ended. They’ve only grown and grown.”

Colfer began writing children’s books in 2012 with the New York Times Best Seller The Land of the Stories: The Wishing Spell. Colfer has grown Land of the Stories into a series, releasing five books to date.

As for returning to TV, Colfer isn’t worried about it anytime soon.

“If something great comes along, fantastic. I still make it a priority. But books are my number one priority right now. It’s storytelling. Acting and writing are two different forms of storytelling. We’re addicted to helping people escape their day to day life.”
